The peonies at Zhongshan Park and Tianshan Park in Changning District have simultaneously reached their best viewing period, with thousands of peony flowers in full bloom.

As a key destination for peony appreciation in downtown Shanghai, the peony garden at Zhongshan Park covers 4,000 square meters. Since its establishment in 1956, it has been the only place where Fahua peonies are cultivated.
Currently, the garden is filled with peonies of various varieties. Among them, precious plants aged over 60 years stand out as a highlight, with white blossoms elegant and pure, pink ones delicate and charming, and purple flowers regal and magnificent.
The Peony Pavilion, built in 1916 within the park, offers an excellent vantage point for viewing the flowers. The traditional Xieshan-style architecture, complemented by stone lion sculptures, exudes ancient charm and beautifully contrasts with the blooming peonies.

At Tianshan Park, the sea of peonies is equally enchanting. The peony garden there was renovated in 2014 and covers about 1,100 square meters, featuring large, graceful blossoms. The Tianshan Park Peony Pavilion, built right next to the garden, perfectly pairs an ancient-style pavilion with the elegant peonies.
Now is the prime time to enjoy the peonies at both parks. Residents are encouraged to take a leisurely stroll and soak in the spring scenery before the blooming season ends.
