Jing’an has turned two of its busiest commercial districts into open-air stages for light, performance and retail over the May Day holiday.
Around Nanjing Road W., the program runs May 1–5 from 7–10pm, with some installations extending through May 10.

Maoming Road N. is the main draw, transformed into an immersive “Flower God Dreamcatcher” strip where live performers move through shifting light projections. Zhangyuan adds a more casual layer, with a pop-up coffee truck and steady evening foot traffic linking the installations to the wider shopping district.

In Suhewan, the festival continues through May 10 with a quieter, waterfront setup. Light installations line Suzhou Creek, while projection shows unfold along the riverwalk. Over the holiday, the riverside platform doubles as an open-air stage, with nightly programs mixing visual spectacle with environmental themes.
