A cultural tourism carnival showcasing picturesque Lu'an's local treasures and summer tourism splendor opened in Shanghai on Thursday, connecting Shanghai and Lu'an and catering to tourists' demand for summer travel and leisure consumption.
The event featured stage promotions, immersive cultural and tourism exhibition and a specialty market to highlight summer getaways, red study tours and eco-health tourism resources in Lu'an, Anhui Province.
The bustling intangible cultural heritage market became the highlight of the carnival. Authentic products and folk traditions from the Dabie Mountain area drew large crowds. Visitors enjoyed handicraft demonstrations, local delicacies and hands-on experience without leaving Shanghai.
The market was divided into three zones, including intangible heritage craftsmanship, farm produce and trendy cultural souvenirs. Master artisans demonstrated traditional techniques including Huoqiu wicker weaving, Shu mat weaving and ancient tea making. Both adults and children took part in workshops to experience time-honored folk skills.
The pop-up market built a cultural bridge between the two cities. Folk crafts, Lu'an flavors and creative souvenirs displayed Lu'an's history and natural scenery.
Organizers said the activity deepened cultural and tourism cooperation between Shanghai and Lu'an. Both sides will boost tourist exchanges and achieve mutually beneficial development in the cultural tourism sector.
Lu'an is a popular destination in the Yangtze River Delta region.
In spring, the Wangchun Valley is enveloped with magnolias, brilliant and colorful; in summer, rafting experiences bring cool and refreshing summer relief; while in autumn, a hike in Jinzhai County in the Dabie Mountains, which boasts the Tiantangzhai Scenic Area, is recommended.
Other tourist attractions include the Wanfo Lake scenic area, the Yanzi River Grand Canyon, and the Longjin Wetland.
