Spring engenders, summer flourishes, autumn harvests, winter stores. DaoDao Fresh Private Cuisine has accompanied you through four seasons of tasting events.

From a wellness perspective, we live in harmony with the four seasons. Nature follows cycles: warm springs, hot summers, cool autumns and cold winters; alongside the rhythm of spring generation, summer growth, autumn harvest and winter storage. Traditional Chinese medicine holds that different seasons exert distinct influences on the human body.
Consistent with our philosophy, this summer tasting event centres on wellness, showcasing seasonal signature ingredients from Chongming to our diners.

Our summer tasting event is themed Summer Growth, with the motto: Eat & Nourish in the Dog Days. An old saying goes: A bowl of Fu Lamb Soup in the dog days makes visits to physicians unnecessary. Nourish yourself in the coldest days of winter and the hottest dog days of summer. For those versed in wellness traditions, this nourishment refers to enjoying lamb and authentic Fu Lamb Soup.
Mild warm tonic nourishment is essential during the dog days. Lamb is warm in nature, able to boost qi and tonify deficiency, making it the premium choice for summer nourishment to revitalise bodily yang energy. In hot summer weather, people often consume large amounts of raw fruits, vegetables and cold beverages, which easily chill the spleen and stomach. Moderate lamb consumption dispels dampness and cold, warms the stomach to promote fluid production, protects the gastrointestinal tract, expels cold and detoxifies the body. As a result, your limbs will stay warmer through the coming winter.

Among senior Shanghainese, dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, there has long been a custom of enjoying white-cut lamb during the dog days. Paired with a glass of rice liquor, the meal brings on a healthy sweat, helping to dispel accumulated internal heat and release bodily toxins.
As an ancient proverb puts it: Food is the paramount necessity of mankind. Today, merely eating one’s fill or enjoying tasty food no longer satisfies diners. Healthy, nourishing and wellness-oriented dining has become a major consumption trend.
