A latest upgrade was introduced Ant A-Fu, Ant Group's AI Health APP, to allow users to track their daily diet and calories simply by taking a photo.
As the popularity of Ant A-Fu’s nationwide scientific weight-loss campaign continues to grow since it was kicked off in late June, it has added new functions that fully leverage AI capabilities.
With the launch of its new feature, users can ask A-Fu to calculate the calorie and nutritional content of food via various methods—such as photos, text or voice—and receive recommendations on healthy meal combinations and exercise plans. Users can also have Afu record their dietary information in their health records with a single tap, and the feature supports flexible editing.
As of 28 July, over a million users across the country have taken part in weight-loss program via the A-Fu app.

Diet is a crucial aspect of weight management, and China’s "National Health 15th Five-Year Plan" also emphasises the implementation of initiatives for balanced diets and healthy weight management, encouraging society-wide participation in reducing salt, oil and sugar intake. With the latest upgrade, it Afu aims to provide everyone with an "AI nutritionist", helping them to prioritise balanced diets and nutritional balance in their daily lives.
Apart from using A-Fu to take photos of food directly, you can also trigger A-Fu's food 'nutrition fact sheet" through text, voice commands or by pairing it with a photo to view the total calorie count and nutritional information such as carbohydrates, protein and fat.
A-Fu also has an excellent ‘memory’; it automatically saves the calorie and nutritional data for each meal to your health record. Afu’s ‘Diet Record Card’ then displays a complete history of your dietary intake and alerts you if your calorie intake for the day has ‘exceeded the limit’. During the nutritional calculation and diet recording process, you can make precise adjustments to details such as food names, quantities in grams and times.
