The inaugural Shanghai Senior Choir Festival was launched at the studio of Shanghai Education Television in Hongkou District on Tuesday, offering a professional arts platform for elderly residents to showcase their musical talents and foster vibrant silver-age culture.
The organizers outlined the significance of promoting arts education among seniors, advancing elderly care services and boosting the silver economy during the launching ceremony, pledging to pool high-quality resources to maintain a regular, professional platform for senior cultural exchanges that enhances elderly residents' sense of happiness, fulfillment and belonging.
The choir from Shanghai University for The Senior delivered a live performance. The ensemble presented two classic works, drawing warm applause from the audience.
Recruitment for the festival is open to all senior choir groups in Shanghai. All eligible registered groups can record performances inside the professional television studio of Shanghai Education Television.
The top 20 teams will earn an opportunity to stage special performances in a concert hall. Organizers encourage senior choirs citywide to sign up and take part in the grand silver-age cultural gala.
