Yuqiao 96 Plaza is turning National Day into a week-long sports bender, and honestly, we're here for it.
From Sep 30 to Oct 7, the plaza's sunken square becomes a full-on Guochao (China chic) sports playground — think night runs, pickleball, a sports market and a glamping corner, all rolled into one. It's the kind of thing that could easily be a mess, but with Cumen and 20+ brands like Anta, STAW, MRS and Kailas on board, it looks like they've actually thought it through.
Here's what to pencil in:
Sep 30 — Opening Carnival Night. A street-opening ceremony, then a 3km fluorescent night run with Hupaotuan, Shanghai's OG charity running crew. Yes, it's a school night. No, that's not an excuse.
Oct 2 — "Tribute to Glory." A 77km Honor Run marking the 77th anniversary of the founding of New China.
Oct 3 — Pickleball takes over. WePickleball and DeePickleball team up for a mixed doubles match. Beginners welcome — pickleball is basically the great equalizer.
In between: fitness challenges, casual showdowns and a market worth wandering. Bring friends, bring your parents, bring your questionable stamina. It's a week — pace yourself.
