On July 2, 2024 (Tuesday, Italian time), at the general assembly of the International Kendo Federation held in Milan, Italy, it was decided that the host country for the 20th World Kendo Championships, to be held in three years, will be Japan (Tokyo). This will be the fifth time Japan has hosted the event, and the first time in 12 years since the 16th Championships in 2015.
