Exhibition, concerts and picnic for upcoming festival

A lawn concert is a spring delight.

Spring is here and the three-day Qingming Festival holiday is just around the corner. Are you yearning for a laid-back weekend in the city? Looking to enjoy nature fun? Or just seeking a place to sit idly and spend a pleasant spring afternoon? Here are some tips as an array of activities are rolling out in the city’s suburb.

Beautiful Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China’s Yunnan Province, where multiple ethnic groups coexist, has nurtured ethnic groups such as Dai, Jingpo, Lisu, and De’ang. Over the long history, they have not only created a brilliant ethnic culture but also transformed their clothing art into something poetic and picturesque.

Tulips are in full bloom in the city.

After thousands of years of evolution, development, and accumulation, the ethnic clothing culture of Dehong has gradually formed its unique characteristics, becoming an indispensable treasure of Yunnan’s ethnic clothing culture.

An exhibition on ethnic minority clothing will start at Qingpu Museum from April, showcasing 81 precious and representative pieces of brocade, clothing, accessories, handicrafts, and visual materials, taking visitors into the world of clothing of the indigenous ethnic minority of Dehong. It invites people to experience the shimmering light of Silk Road civilization woven into every stitch between the emerald rainforests and river valleys of southwestern Yunnan. Additionally, the exhibition highlights the rich spiritual world and exquisite craftsmanship of ethnic minorities.

It runs between April 1 and June 25.

Lawn concerts will be held on April 4 and 5 at Shanghai Fushouyuan Humanities Culture Park in Qingpu. It offered visitors a unique experience blending art and reflection on life.

A book reading event offers an opportunity to embrace nature.

People can lounge on camping chairs, enjoying the music, or browse culture and art, and picture books at the book fair, savoring the atmosphere of spring.

There are also exhibitions and an exchange activity of books, while the coffee lounge provides freshly brewed coffee and spring-themed treats, creating a peaceful retreat for visitors.

Art-M, a culture and innovation industry park in Liantang Town, invites people to make qingtuan, a green glutinous rice dumpling and one of the Qingming Festival’s most iconic delicacies, and savor spring in every bite.

The traditional Jiangnan craftsmanship is taught step by step, with glutinous rice flour kneaded into dough and sweet bean paste stuffed.

From handicraft experience to coffee picnic and lawn music parties, let music and coffee aroma whisper in the spring afternoon. There are also hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) bazaars through April.
