How can foreigners retire in SH?

The entry and exit information is as follows:

  1. Foreign employees of enterprises are usually not eligible for work visas after the age of 60,

  2. Senior management or special talents can be extended to around 65 years old, such as the position of general manager.

  3. After the age of 65, approval will be considered on a yearly basis.

  4. Urgent situation. You can directly apply for a dependent visa if you are married to a Chinese person.

The social security bureau information is as follows:

  1. The retirement of foreign individuals is handled by the enterprise according to regulations.

  2. For those who have paid social security contributions for at least 15 years, enterprises will normally handle it for foreign individuals.

  3. For those who have not paid social security contributions for at least 15 years, enterprises can continue to make up payments under the pretext of employment after the age of 60 before they are eligible for retirement.

  4. If one has left the unit after reaching the age of 60 without completing at least 15 years’ worth of contributions, an application can be submitted to the social security bureau for approval to make up payments.
