The city of Jingjiang, in neighboring Jiangsu Province, lured travelers in Shanghai with its mouthwatering delicacies and abundant tourism resources over the weekend.
When you come to Jingjiang, come hungry.
The city is famous for a raft of delicacies such as xiehuang tangbao (steamed dumplings stuffed with crab roe), maqiao dumplings, Laozhi chicken, pufferfish cuisine and pork jerky.
Jingjiang’s characteristic steamed dumplings are a larger, grander version of Shanghai’s renowned xiaolongbao; they are drenched in chicken broth and filled with crab meat.
The Sanjiang Road in Jingjiang is exactly the right place to sink your teeth into late-night snacks from lamb skewer to crab pot.

The city also boasts an array of tourist attractions such as the Gushan Mountain Scenic Area, Mazhou Park, Dongxing Ancient Street, and Jingjiang Museum.
The Gushan Mountain Scenic Area, the landmark attraction of Jingjiang which is a seemingly lonely small mountain, actually holds rich natural and cultural scenery. It’s famous for its unique shape and lush trees. In spring, wild flowers cover the mountain. It’s a great place to escape heat in summer time.
Jingjiang is seeking to deepen cooperation with Shanghai in tourism field as a cooperation agreement was signed between local authorities and the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai on Saturday.

Tour groups comprising those from Fortune 500 companies, international schools, and outdoor sports clubs in Shanghai will head to Jingjiang through the year. Customized themes like flower viewing, summer retreats, self-driving camping, parent-child fruit picking, and ancient town experiences are set to expand.
Short-haul tours on local delicacies, river views, Jishi Ancient Town, health care and organic farms will be developed.
Highlighting city camping, charming night markets, autumn food, and quality performances, the city will also periodically launch “limited-edition” tourism itineraries to meet Shanghai’s travelers’ demand.

How to get there:
It takes approximately two hours and 20 minutes by driving from Shanghai to Jingjiang via Shenhai and Huwu highways.
If you take rail, get off at Jiangyin Station, which takes slightly over one hour.
