The photo exhibition “From Shanghai to Osaka, From Expo to the World” raised its curtain at the cultural corridor of the People’s Square Station of Metro Line 1, 2 and 8 on Tuesday, celebrating the start of Expo Osaka 2025 and marking the 15th-anniversary commemoration of the Shanghai Expo.

Through 15 lightbox images, the exhibition showcases “Everything Starts from World Expo,” the success and unforgettable moments of the Shanghai Expo, and the presence of Chinese brands at the Milan, Astana, and Dubai Expos. It also looks ahead to the upcoming Osaka Expo and highlights the legacy and innovation of World Expo.

Expo Osaka 2025, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” will be held in Osaka from April 13 to October 13.

Shanghai World Expo Museum will attend the expo for the fifth time with the theme “Next Stop, the Future.” Located within the Joint Pavilion of International Organizations at the Expo, the exhibition will use digital technology, interactive multimedia, and physical artifacts to highlight the transformative and innovative power of World Expos in advancing human society’s progress and sustainable development, creating a digital exhibition space centered on Expo themes.

A future-oriented showcase

The exhibition area is designed as a transportation hub, with each Expo edition represented as a “station.” It connects major events and the role of World Expos in sustainable development across different stages, showcasing innovation and collaboration in global environmental, cultural, and technological fields.

The overall design incorporates elements of train carriages and subways to create an atmosphere of traveling alongside the Expo, inviting visitors as “passengers” to move forward with it.

Japan is a key source of inbound tourists to China, and the Expo site will attract visitors from around the globe. With an expected 28 million visitors, the Osaka Expo will also serve as a platform for Shanghai to enhance its inbound tourism promotion.
