The Bund for Mr.Alexie

Chapter 9

Basically, I really didn’t want to lose my new job. I needed find solution if I smelt the trouble.

My friend Henry came from Tangshan City and we used to play soccer together at Dong Hua University. He called me next Monday and told me that he had found a friend there who just worked at the management office for the approval of our raw materials.

I invited him to visit Beijing and I promised to cover all the expenses, including his part-time salary. He accepted. I took my ID and bag and then got into a taxi. On the way to Hong Qiao Airport, I asked my flight ticket agent to reserve tickets for us. Henry also arrived at Hong Qiao Airport punctually.

We were flying to Beijing to have dinner with his friends. Everything seemed so effortless. When we reached a restaurant near the Chinese Japanese Friendship Hospital, I saw a large table.

I thought it was only one friend of Henry’s. It appeared that there were quite a few of them. We didn’t pause and began the dinner directly. Those friends were very glad to welcome me, the only guy from the south.

They strongly suggested that I order Chinese white wines. Oh. Huuuuuu. That nightmare of alcohol never vanished. After several glasses of alcohol, I already need to vomit in the toilet.

Everyone told me that he had a relationship for what I was looking for. My goodness! It’s also my first time traveling in Beijing. I didn’t know who was telling me the truth.

The next morning, Henry said we needed to visit his friend at the Chinese Science Management Office regarding dangerous chemical management. I recalled that we were living in a Hu Tong for the experience and we took subway line 2 to the Tian Tong Yuan area. Henry didn’t make any mistakes.

We arrived at the correct office. His friend worked inside that office. Amazing.

His friend looked after us in the reference room and offered us hot tea. Their leader, a kind lady, also spared time for us. She said she knew us as the CFO of our GZ factory had previously sent someone to visit them along with gifts.

However, she wasn’t able to make an exception for us even though we were significantly influenced by this new policy. We couldn’t put any more pressure on her and she politely escorted us out along with Henry’s friend. We failed. Oh. How can I deal with these ticket costs and expenses? Shame.

I was quite disappointed with this situation. After expressing my gratitude to Henry, we were on our way back to our small hotel. I wasn’t willing to give up so soon. I began to call friends in Shanghai for help. I had sent out all the information I could get. Henry didn’t give up either. He kept looking for other information from his side. The only thing we could do was to wait.

Meanwhile, I was introduced to Mark, our raw material supplier from Taiwan, by Alexie. He was also very willing to offer his assistance with his rich experiences of Beijing.

It was dry there at winter in Beijing.Just like my throat after drink Chinese white wine. What`s the answer for this trouble?
